Logan Square Vintage

Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. This greystone in Logan Square had been stripped of its original character in the ’90s, as was en vogue. In its place sprung maple floors, maple cabinets and glass bisazza tile… And it all had to go. You see, these empty nesters’ lives had shifted — and, after 20 years, so had their aesthetic. But first things first. We zhuzhed the layout for procession and a modern flow, including opening up the kitchen and adding a substantial sliding door to the deck for easy entertaining. Goodbye unused bedroom; hello beautiful builtins and a banquette. As for bringing back those turn-of-the-century accents, we brought on Metrie Inc. for custom casings, crown molding, panel molding and coffered ceilings. Bonus: We incorporated a glass-encased vestibule for surplus natural light.

Inspired by this repeat client’s amazing collection of hand-woven Persian rugs, we pulled in the colorways for each room without being too prescribed or matchy-matchy about it.
