When your new abode sits in the clouds on the 60th floor at One Bennett Park — Chicago’s chicest residences with world-class amenities — and the cityscape and Lake Michigan are serving up epic views, sightlines and creative focal points are the key to a successful design plan. Downsizing on square footage while upgrading on lifestyle, this fashion-forward couple selected a three-bedroom condo in semiraw condition so that they could put their own stamp on it. Our job was to layer in the personality and pazazz via luxe fixtures and finishes, and end-to-end decor. First things first: We edited back decades-worth of collected art and furnishings for color inspo and impact. Next, we paid special attention to the shell of the apartment, hand-selecting rich ultrasuede and grasscloth wallcoverings, and even tapping a local artist for custom paint that’s mixed with crushed glass. Speaking of custom, we also commissioned a trio of bespoke rugs in amorphously abstract shapes, and a koi fish mural for the powder room. Sophisticated, contemporary, luminescent… Pull up an Art Deco chair by the windows and take it all in.
