Lakeshore Drive Co-op

For this pre-war condo with lake views and a fancy address, the decadence is definitely in the details. We had generous proportions to play with (and play up), and were given carte blanche to bring it — the style and the statements. With ace Mike Shively on interior architecture and Tip Top commanding the buildout, steve + filip design’s focus would be on material selections, finding fixtures that pop, furniture procurement and art curation — and editing back 20 years of decor down to what would work best in this space. And there would be no holding back on saturated colors that pack a punch. Take the foyer, for example. Here, we opted to keep the original black-and-white tile floors but brought the funk in the form of a hide rug in a contrasting pattern, a gray settee placed just so beneath a feathered juju hat, and a wood acrylic side table that’s delightfully offset by a blue velvet chair. Oooh, and a set of sexy Fornasetti plates depicting Adam and Eve for added interest.

The primary bedroom received new wall coverings, rugs and bedding, natch. And for a suave focal point, we custom designed a builtin that flaunts a faux fireplace, a Phillip Jeffries studded wall covering to camouflage the TV, and a beautiful bookcase for gathered collectibles.
