At One Chicago in the Gold Coast, luxe amenities are baked in — indoor/outdoor lounges, a health club and spa, rooftop pools… the works. But a copy-and-paste furniture plan just wouldn’t do for this design-loving dad. With high ceilings, wall-to-wall windows and sleek finishes to accentuate, we zeroed in on lifestyle-specific space planning (converting the den into a handsome WFH office, a sartorial buildout for the primary dressing room) and soft treatments that would level up the hominess factor. Inspired by the lake views and rolling cloud cover, we leaned into a base color palette of saturated blues, grizzly grays and rich walnuts, and took extra care to curate a collection of artisan rugs that read lived-in and loved over pretty and polished. Menswear-inspired wallcoverings, channel-stitched leather, mood lighting, and storied decor — a cohesive mix of grit and glam — drive home that cool and collected air. C’est finis! Just pack up your clothes and move right on in.
